Shipwreck hunters found The Atlanta claimed by Lake Superior in 1981

The Atlanta was found 35 miles off Deer Park, MI, in about 650 feet of water in Lake Superior according to the Great Lakes Shipwreck Historical Society.
The wreck was found amid 2,500 miles of Lake Superior bottom mapped in summer 2021 using side scan sonar, operated by Marine Sonic Technology in partnership with the shipwreck group.
